Net employment in the state would increase by 11,000 jobs, direct and indirect, if a proposed $1.4 billion undertaking to repair Michigan’s roads moves forward, a study contends.

Anderson Economic Group: “The results of this analysis are clear: the benefits to the state and its residents of increasing our road funding and improving our roads are very large, and far off- set the cost of the higher gas taxes necessary to support that expenditure.”

Citizen’s Advisory Committee: Roads at all levels are either already in dire condition or will reach that point in the coming years, at current funding levels.

Mackinac Center: “The current transportation funding system cannot give us the kind of road system we need or even keep us from falling further behind.”
