Mlive: Michigan road funding bills designed to start talks

Mlive today reported that Michigan road funding bills are designed to start talks, not provide conclusions. Here are a few key quotes from the article.

“I’ve introduced ideas,” the Saginaw Township Republican said Thursday afternoon in Lansing. “Yes, they’re bills, but they’re really just discussion points.”

“This is just like looking at the question of, do you get oil changes on a regular basis and do you pay for that, or wait for an engine rebuild?” he said, arguing that fixing bad roads costs more than maintaining decent ones.”

“The argument is that everybody uses the roads,” Kahn said. “If you’re a grandparent, your grandkids come and visit you, they use the roads. When the FedEx guy comes by and delivers your Christmas presents or flower for Valentine’s Day, they use the roads. If you have Girl Scouts coming to sell you cookies, they’re using the roads.”
